11 Mahasiswa Amerika Studi Banding ke UNIDA Gontor

Sebanyak 11 mahasiswa Amerika yang tergabung dalam program School of International Training (SIT) telah mengunjungi UNIDA Gontor Kampus Mantingan pada 29/09-01/10. Mahasiswa tersebut datang dari berbagai kampus di Amerika dengan tujuan untuk melatih ketrampilan leadership mereka dan mempromosikan berbagai budaya dunia. SIT ini pertama kali dibuka pada tahun 1964 dan merupakan sekolah pertama yang menekankan pengenalan budaya dengan pada pembelajaran internasional.

Kegiatan yang dilakukan selama di UNIDA Gontor

Kegiatan yang berlangsung selama 2 hari di Mantingan ini merupakan kunjungan yang ke tujuh kalinya bagi rombongan mahasiswa/i Amerika Serikat. Selama program berlangsung, para mahasiswa SIT tersebut ditemani oleh Direktur Akademik SIT yang berasal dari Bali, Dr. Ni Wayan Arianti. Beliau mengungkapkan rasa terima kasihnya untuk UNIDA Gontor yang telah memberikan kesempatan belajar mengenai kebudayaan Indonesia dan pengetahuan seputar Agama Islam.

Agenda yang mereka lakukan di Gontor Putri ini ialah mengenal tentang muslimah, Agama Islam dan kepondokmodernan terutama dengan panca jiwanya. Sebelum berdiskusi mengenai tentang Islam, para peserta SIT diajak untuk menghadiri pembekalan mengenai model pendidikan di Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor. Pembekalan dan diskusi tersebut disampaikan oleh Dekan Kulliyyatu-l-Banat, Dr. Nur Hadi Ihsan, MIRKH. di Gedung Pasca Sarjana pada Ahad, 29/09.

Sinar Cahaya dari Agama Islam

Acara pun dilanjutkan dengan diskusi pada pagi harinya mengenai keislaman dan isu kontemporer baik feminism, divorce, poligami, aurat maupun hal lainnya. Mereka sangat antusias untuk mengenal Islam lebih dalam lagi dengan berbagai hal yang ingin mereka ketahui dalam sesi diskusi tersebut. Beberapa hal yang mereka tanyakan ialah mengapa wanita mengenakan hijab/ niqab/ burqa, bagaimanakah pandangan Islam terhadap feminisme dan lain sebagainya.

Alhamdulillah, dari hasil diskusi bersama ini, mahasiswi UNIDA Gontor mampu membuat para peserta SIT terbuka secara pandangan terhadap Agama Islam. Islam yang sebelumnya diisukan sebagai agama yang keras, tabu, radikal dan teroris telah tergantikan dengan pandangan positif setelah diskusi berlangsung.

Selanjutnya para peserta SIT diajak berkeliling Kampus Mantingan dan olahraga bersama pada sore harinya ditemani oleh para mahasiswi UNIDA Gontor. Adapun di malam hari, beberapa mahasiswi mengikuti kegiatan simposium yang disampaikan oleh tiga mahasiswi SIT dan satu mahasiswi UNIDA Gontor.

Acara yang telah menginjak angkatan ketujuh ini sejatinya merupakan kerja sama yang telah dibangun lama antara UNIDA Gontor dengan lembaga SIT. Adapun selama 3 bulan para mahasiswi Internasional tersebut melakukan kunjungannya di Indonesia, hanya Gontorlah yang menjadi tempat mereka mengenal Islam. Setelah rampungnya acara di UNIDA Gontor Kampus Mantingan ini, para tamu SIT melanjutkan kunjungannya ke kampus Pusat UNIDA Gontor, Siman, Ponorogo.
