Model United Nations…
Model United Nations (MUN) merupakan salah satu ajang bergengsi yang tidak asing bagi para pelajar, khususnya bagi mahasiswa Hubungan Internasional. Ajang ini merupakan salah satu alternatif kita untuk dapat mengembangkan soft skill dalam hal kepenulisan serta hard skill dalam keterampilan mengutarakan pendapat. MUN, atau yang biasa kita kenal dengan Model Perserikatan Bangsa-bangsa adalah simulasi sidang Majelis Jenderal PBB, atau sidang PBB lainnya.
Dalam Model UN, peserta sidang bertindak sebagai perwakilan suara dari negara anggota di dewan untuk berdebat tentang topik yang ditugaskan. Delegasi akan menyuarakan suaranya dengan berpidato, membuat draft resolusi, dan bernegosiasi dengan delegasi lain sesuai modul yang menjadi prosedur PBB. Hal tersebut tentu dilakukan tidak lain untuk mencapai tujuan akhir dalam diplomasi internasional yakni pencapaian national interest dan kerja sama.
Veteran Conference Festival 2019 | UNSC: The Situation in Ukraine
Model United Nations kali ini, terdapat 4 council PBB yang dapat diwakili oleh peserta yaitu, UN Women, UNHCR, SOSHUM, dan UNSC. Adapun delegasi UNIDA Gontor mendapatkan UNSC dengan pembahasan utama “Situation in Ukraine” yang diadakan di Universitas Pembangunan Negeri “Veteran” Jakarta. Adapun delegasi UNIDA Gontor yang diutus dalam acara yang diadakan di Pondok Labu UPM Jakarta pada 27-28/09 adalah sejumlah 5 delegasi.
Dalam badan UNSC ini terdapat 26 peserta dari berbagai universitas di Indonesia yang telah dibagi tugaskan ke dalam 13 negara dunia. Negara-negara tersebut mencakup negara Rusia, China, Perancis, Kerajaan Inggris, Amerika Serikat, Belgia, Polandia, Peru, Kuwait, Afrika Selatan, Indonesia dan Jerman. Beberapa peserta yang hadir dalam Model UN tersebut datang dari berbagai kampus seperti UI, Universitas Atma Jaya, Universitas Presiden, UNPAD.
Pembahasan Dewan Keamanan PBB kali ini cukup menarik dan menjadi isu hangat dunia yakni mengenai penanganan situasi konflik yang melanda Ukraina. Konflik ini telah berlangsung sejak tahun 2013 dan telah memupuk perhatian global baik bagi negeri berkembang maupun negeri maju sekalipun. Salah satu hal yang menjadi indikator utama dalam relevansi masalah tersebut adalah keterlibatan berbagai pemangku kebijakan dan kepentingan tiap negara. Beberapa hambatan yang perlu diatasi dalam konflik tersebut yaitu keterlibatan aktor asing dan komplikasi yang saling terkait melalui klaim hukum.
Pengalaman untuk Pengamalan
Dari pengalaman MUN kali ini para delegasi dapat merasakan suasana menjadi perwakilan yang sedang mengemban amanat dari negara yang diwakili. Tidak hanya itu, kegiatan ini juga bermanfaat untuk dapat membuka wawasan, memperluas jaringan pertemanan dan bertukar pikiran ilmu serta pengalaman.
Kita juga akan dibimbing untuk dapat mengasah kemampuan diri baik dalam keberanian berbicara, berbahasa, dan mempertahankan argumen kita sebagai perwakilan. MUN ini sangat bermanfaat tidak hanya untuk mahasiswa Hubungan Internasional sendiri tetapi dapat bermanfaat juga untuk mahasiswa dari Prodi lainnya.
Dari acara ini, para delegasi sangat berharap untuk dapat mengembangkan soft skill dan hard skill sehingga dapat diamalkan di lingkungan almamater tercinta. Salah satu yang dapat dilakukan para delegasi ialah melaksanakan simulasi pelatihan kepada teman-teman yang hendak mengikuti MUN di kampus lain.
Mereka akan membantu calon delegasi UNIDA Gontor agar dapat mempersiapkan diri seoptimal mungkin baik itu dari sisi mental, materi maupun pengetahuan. Hal lain yang dapat mempermudah calon delegasi yaitu membantu segala persiapan apa saja yang dibutuhkan saat MUN tersebut berlangsung.
Esensi terpenting dalam MUN ialah pengembangan kemampuan berbahasa asing, karena bahasa menjadi salah satu instrumen utama untuk menunjang keberlangsungan acara.
